Chasing Pavements

To be a general manager or country head is one of my ultimate career goals. I tried and applied for it before; and a couple of misses and near hits; yet I'm still positive I'll have it.

Was given a technology head post mid of 2014, but it did not turn well, and I found myself wanting to resign and find a better option.

and I did... early 2015.... then later, was given a Senior Manager role, yet... still not the dream job I always imagine..

when will I stop chasing pavements? I think the more i chase the rat, the more it will be gone.

hayz.. I'll just listen to Adele's angelic voice...

Vindication!

Suddenly, i got this urge of collecting "forgive and forget" quotes. Not because I want certain people to read this, but because all of these are self-realization and lessons I learned through out my years. More so, "vindication" is so sweet once coupled by forgiving and forgetting the past.

As they say, what goes around, comes around.

I feel very blessed. Thank you God for the experience.

I'm back! Thanks to iphone's blogger app!

It's good to know that there's a blogger app in iphone! Heheheh.. So i don't need to be in my damn old laptop just to post something.. Hihi

It's been a while since the last time I wrote in this blog.... With that, It gave me a lot of opportunities to store a number of stories and events that shaped me as a person.... For sure it will take me alot of months to write all those stuff!!

I tell you, it's been a roller coaster ride. A lot of ups and downs... But what's important is that I'm still on my feet, standing and fighting... I learned that life will always move on with or without me... So what we have to do is to swim with the flow ( from the nemo movie hahahahaha).... Strive harder to survive... And let go of the ghosts of the past.

Letting go means letting go of aches and pains... But still remembering the good memories and the lessons learned...

There will always be a silver lining in every dark corners... All we have to do is to just see it and believe in it.

Therefore, I need to tell all of you this.. I'm back and my stories will continue... It is so nice to be back :)

Yaya jokes!

Yaya jokes are so fun to read... I got a few of "yaya jokes" from a forum that i use to visit... Some are fictional and others are real conversations... hahahah..... enjoy and have a good laugh!!!!

------------------

1. Frederique – We had a yaya who claimed she was being courted by a kapre in her province and wanted to take her to his kingdom. Her reason for turning down the offer to be his queen? “Kapre yun ma’am, malaki ang kwan nun! Wag na tuy!”

2. Ivan – Kid: “Yaya look, boats!” Yaya: “Dows are not boats, they’re yachts.” Kid: “Yaya, spell yachts?” Yaya: “Yor rayt, dey are boats.”

3. Sam – Woman carrying sick baby enters doctor’s office. Doc: “Bottlefed?” Woman: “Breastfed po.” (Doctors squeezes woman’s breasts repeatedly) Doc: “Ayan ang problema, wala kang gatas, eh.” Woman: “Yaya lang po ako doc! Yaya!”

4. William & Luli – The eggs that yaya bought turned out to be rotten. She stormed back to the grocery and told the vendor: “Manong, ang baho ng itlog niyo!”

5. No name – My mom asked our yaya to buy Inquirer and Star. Our yaya came back and said: “Ma’am, wala pong Inquirer kaya bumili nalang po ako ng dalawang Star!”

Leader vs Manager

I visited my LINKEDIN account, just to update my profile and somehow update myself with my connections...

And in my browsing.. I came to read a shared presentation by a member... It is quite intriguing... and I realized that indeed there are big differences between being a Manager and a Leader...

Then I asked my self... "What am I?"

For me, a Leader is a person that drives a group to achieve a goal. He is more of a motivator, a mediator... He knows how to adjust to differences within his group...

A Manager on the other hand.. is more of a planner... he makes sure that everything is in place... no matter what. He is more focused on the goals.. and he makes sure that the goal is met regardless of what comes their way...

I have to agree on some points in the presentation... like this one... "A Manager is most of the time a leader.. but a leader is at times a manager"...

So what's your take on this? So what are you?

Trip to Calereuga

I love Caleruega. For me, it is one of the most tranquil and peaceful place I've ever been. You'll have enough space and time to be with your inner self and to reflect on things that came your way.

Every time we go to Tagaytay, we always place in our itinerary a visit to Caleruega... So are you familiar with Caleruega?

If you're thinking that it is a small town in Castile-Leon Spain, you might be right... but here in the Philippines, it is the Domican run Retreat place in the heart of Batulao Batangas. It is less than an hour drive from Tagaytay through Nasugbu and going to Batulao.

How You Can Confidently Make a Career Shift: 10 questions to ask yourself before making a change

an article from www.careerknowhow.com

by Susan Eckert

So, you’ve been thinking about changing your line of work?
Don’t worry; you’re not alone. In fact, more and more people are following this previously unpopular career path. In fact, it’s becoming much more common for men and women, especially those in their 30s and 40s to do just that.
Tragic world events have also contributed to this new phenomenon—people are reconsidering work/life balance issues, their legacy, and how they want to be contributing to this world in the here and now. Doctors, interested in work/life balance and greater safety, are nurturing their artistic interests. Corporate employees, desiring greater independence, are swapping suits for bathrobes and starting up home-based businesses.

Greener Pastures: Is it really for the best? or for your Headaches?

When we talk about careers, we are talking about our future and on how we will sustain life as it is. I find it somehow absurd, if one resigns in his work then his employers or boss becomes bitter and tries to give you one heck of pain. I think it is a personal choice of the person to say quits or not…. Bitterness is not an acceptable response.

I’m writing this because right now I’m in that situation. I find it very hard to leave my company and I don’t know why I’m having all this headaches… So let me slice the story a little bit.

I owe a lot of debt and gratitude to the company because they allowed me to have a Master’s degree for free literally. They financed my Masters education BUT tied me to work for them for 2 years after my graduation. So it’s been 10 months already after my graduation, and I realized that I do not completely owe them. I worked and studied hard for that degree, and I think all the work should be credited on my name because it’s not them who answered the entire test, worked 24 hours just to pass a project, and scuffled till death just to finish my Thesis. I believe I really worked hard for it.

Then recently, a received a job offer from another company. They called me if I’m interested to be interviewed and I said yes. Why not? It’s an opportunity that you shouldn’t miss. I went there and fortunately after series of interviews and tests, I got the job.

They are offering a better compensation package that’s way above what I’m earning in my company…. So what do you think is the best thing to do? Of course, I accepted the offer and filed my resignation in my company… That’s when all the trouble began…..

Headaches..... stress..... problems.... etc... what @ #$%&!!!!!

I really have to find a way to pay my "Education Bond"....

besides the usual shouting, sour-graping, black-mailing, etc from your superiors.... hahahahahahah

Just Thinking...

10 minutes before 12 PM, I'm still here in my desk waiting for my eyes to swell. I keep on thinking of the best decision to take in my queuing career.

By next year I’ll be sent by my Company to Austin Texas for a work assignment… Yes it’s flattering because you’re been given a chance to work abroad and be with different people of different cultures…. But …. And will always be but….. Will I be happy there?..

Working abroad has never reached my mind ever since I’m a child…. My dad, until now, is working abroad just to give us, his children, the best life he can offer.. I always admire my dad for the sacrifice of being far from his family… I wanted him to go back and be with us… but I know it’s not yet the right time…

My sister works in UK and I know how hard she feels right now, not seeing her children grow up… but that is Life’s injustice… we have to make sacrifices for what we believe is true and best for us and our loved ones…

And now…I’m about to experience the same fate…. Although for just 10 months, it is still duration away from your loved ones...

I always believe that “Leaving someone you love is less painful than seeing your love leave you behind……”…… And it’s true… and I don’t want to do it to them…..

Random Thoughts

Random Thoughts
By me

I want to see the beauty in everything,
I want to raw the hardness inside me.
I want to please the one’s I love,
as much as I want my life to last.

Sometimes I reap my valley of dreams.
I drove for miles just to reach its peak.
It’s not easy and most of the time I fall,
In every slippery edges of this rocky slopes.

Each time I fall, it made me cry,
For I know time is running so fast.
Dreams fall, my hopes die,
Flowers bloom, yet crows fly high.

X-Men III - Directors Club Cinema Mall of Asia

We thought that I-Max theater will feature X-Men III, but we were wrong. After queuing in a sweat flooded lane of the cinema counter, we found out that we will not be able to experience X-Men the IMax way... hahahaha... Because the theater still features the unknown-unpopular-baduy-etc-etc movies Nascar and Everest.... haayyy... So we decided to choose from the regular cinemas.... We did not want to purge ourselves to those people who wanted to insert themselves to regular showing times and have to queue again just to have a good seating location inside the regular cinemas... So we decided to watch the movie in the Directors Club cinema...

Actually it was quite fun and relaxing. With 30 persons watching inside, a free drink, unlimited popcorn, a very comfy lazy-boy chair, it was like a Theater inside your own house. Although we already watched a movie in a lazyboy furnished cinema in MBK Bangkok (Alien Vs Predator to be exact), it is quite amusing to realize that you can experience that exceptional movie-relaxation hang over within the corners of Metro Manila. It is indeed quite fun. Although everything good has it's lapses, Directors Club in Mall of Asia is worth 300 Pesos a person. So if you have extra money to pamper yourself... Why not!... If not just queue in the regular cinemas besides, the same movie will be shown... Ciao....

X-Men movie - San Mig Imax theater Mall of Asia

X-men III is now showing and we can't wait till Saturday to watch it.. We are planning to watch X-Men in Mall of Asia. Mall of Asia boasts of its San Mig Imax Theater, the first Imax Cinema in the Philippines. Besides that it has an 8-storey equivalent screen... whoooaahhh... That's one heck of a big screen... Really can't wait to watch there....
We went there during the opening, and I was really amazed by the hugeness of the mall.... Although I got claustrophobic because of the thousands of people around (would you imagine that parking spaces are full and even the vacant lots surrounding the mall are occupied), I consider this mall the best so far in the Philippines... Far far away compared to the usual "SM Malls" here... It has something different.. Something unique...
So I'll just update you after Saturday.... Ciao....
Oh wait... if you want to have more information regarding Mall of Asia.... just click the link
