Just Thinking...

10 minutes before 12 PM, I'm still here in my desk waiting for my eyes to swell. I keep on thinking of the best decision to take in my queuing career.

By next year I’ll be sent by my Company to Austin Texas for a work assignment… Yes it’s flattering because you’re been given a chance to work abroad and be with different people of different cultures…. But …. And will always be but….. Will I be happy there?..

Working abroad has never reached my mind ever since I’m a child…. My dad, until now, is working abroad just to give us, his children, the best life he can offer.. I always admire my dad for the sacrifice of being far from his family… I wanted him to go back and be with us… but I know it’s not yet the right time…

My sister works in UK and I know how hard she feels right now, not seeing her children grow up… but that is Life’s injustice… we have to make sacrifices for what we believe is true and best for us and our loved ones…

And now…I’m about to experience the same fate…. Although for just 10 months, it is still duration away from your loved ones...

I always believe that “Leaving someone you love is less painful than seeing your love leave you behind……”…… And it’s true… and I don’t want to do it to them…..

Random Thoughts

Random Thoughts
By me

I want to see the beauty in everything,
I want to raw the hardness inside me.
I want to please the one’s I love,
as much as I want my life to last.

Sometimes I reap my valley of dreams.
I drove for miles just to reach its peak.
It’s not easy and most of the time I fall,
In every slippery edges of this rocky slopes.

Each time I fall, it made me cry,
For I know time is running so fast.
Dreams fall, my hopes die,
Flowers bloom, yet crows fly high.

X-Men III - Directors Club Cinema Mall of Asia

We thought that I-Max theater will feature X-Men III, but we were wrong. After queuing in a sweat flooded lane of the cinema counter, we found out that we will not be able to experience X-Men the IMax way... hahahaha... Because the theater still features the unknown-unpopular-baduy-etc-etc movies Nascar and Everest.... haayyy... So we decided to choose from the regular cinemas.... We did not want to purge ourselves to those people who wanted to insert themselves to regular showing times and have to queue again just to have a good seating location inside the regular cinemas... So we decided to watch the movie in the Directors Club cinema...

Actually it was quite fun and relaxing. With 30 persons watching inside, a free drink, unlimited popcorn, a very comfy lazy-boy chair, it was like a Theater inside your own house. Although we already watched a movie in a lazyboy furnished cinema in MBK Bangkok (Alien Vs Predator to be exact), it is quite amusing to realize that you can experience that exceptional movie-relaxation hang over within the corners of Metro Manila. It is indeed quite fun. Although everything good has it's lapses, Directors Club in Mall of Asia is worth 300 Pesos a person. So if you have extra money to pamper yourself... Why not!... If not just queue in the regular cinemas besides, the same movie will be shown... Ciao....

X-Men movie - San Mig Imax theater Mall of Asia

X-men III is now showing and we can't wait till Saturday to watch it.. We are planning to watch X-Men in Mall of Asia. Mall of Asia boasts of its San Mig Imax Theater, the first Imax Cinema in the Philippines. Besides that it has an 8-storey equivalent screen... whoooaahhh... That's one heck of a big screen... Really can't wait to watch there....
We went there during the opening, and I was really amazed by the hugeness of the mall.... Although I got claustrophobic because of the thousands of people around (would you imagine that parking spaces are full and even the vacant lots surrounding the mall are occupied), I consider this mall the best so far in the Philippines... Far far away compared to the usual "SM Malls" here... It has something different.. Something unique...
So I'll just update you after Saturday.... Ciao....
Oh wait... if you want to have more information regarding Mall of Asia.... just click the link

Movies

I'm a movie goer... loveeeee to watch movies... Besides that it is one of the few activities we (my hon and I) enjoy to do, it is something that keeps you updated (in case you're living in a shallow, 4-sided wall... heheheh). We usually enjoy going out of town, visiting different places, but that is costly. And since out-of-towns are expensive, we divert our energies to malls, virtual tennis (video game/arcade), timezone, and movies….

For the 5 years we’ve been together we already watched a number of movies… you want me to enumerate all? Heheheh joke… because I can’t remember anymore… heheheh….

The recent movie that we watched is “When a stranger calls” last May 1, labor day. It is a suspense/thriller movie. The movie is good but “for me” (take note.. “for me”) the movie lacks an introduction about who the heck is the suspect what so ever… I just have a lot of questions regarding the story, characters, etc…. but all in all, the movie is good…. A thriller per se…

Prior to “When the stranger calls” we watched “The Wild”…. I love animation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I’m looking forward to the big animation movie…. “CARS”…… :):):)

A Beautiful Analogy

To my batchmates in Adamson University: I received an email from Tine... As usual it is a forwarded email... joke.... but anyways, it is quite a beautiful email that will open our minds about the things in life. You will then realize that God gave us obstacles to learn good things. There will always come a time we feel down and depress, but Let's not blame God for all those jinx that comes our way. Let's blame ourselves for forgetting to thank God for all the things He has showered in us....

very inspiring.... See what a good email can do to your day.......

I Never Thought

I took a break for 10 minutes after long hours of coding my project. I am so stressed out and I was looking for a way to release all my invisible burden (hehehe). Then suddenly, I told myself why not write a poem, just like the old days... I used to be a Literary Editor in one of my alma maters. So I just did, and I want to share it to all of you..
The poem is all about love, about finding love unexpectedly. It shows how to be patient and how to be thankful for all that God has given us... Hope you like it....

Time

We only have one life. We only borrowed it from God. It is something that we should treasure and value. The time given to us should always be well spent.

Sometimes we often neglect the importance of time. Maybe because we are too pre-occupied by different things. Sometimes we always tell ourselves that we still have tomorrow to do the things that should be done by now.... then the cycle goes on and on until we reached the end of the line.

I received a very interesting email that taught me how to realize the value of time.... click here...

This does not make SENSE!!!

I received a forwarded email from a friend of mine entitled "Kung Tinatamad". At first I thought that this will somehow cheer me up coz the topic is quite interesting. But as I read the content, it turns out to be a TURN-OFF! This is really non-sense and I just hope that people that write such stuff will realize that what they are doing is "BADUY". This is so elementary and I just can't bare reading it up to the last sentence...
Whoever you are... sorry.... not my type of stuff.. :(

Greed sometimes turns to bread...

Today is Valentines day.... I'm not usually celebrating this day. I always consider everyday a "Love day" coz I have my family, friends, and my honey. I always look at this day as an ordinary day...

A while ago, while working I recieved a mail coming from UNICEF. Actually it was mailed by BPI(Bank of the Philippine Islands). They are asking for donations (via Credit Card... *sigh*) for support in their projects, which is to prevent the death rate of mothers and babies here in the Philippines. Noble cause but I told myself I am also in need... I have alot of wants... I still have so many dreams....

But things took a turn and I flushed away my greed, and started reading the letter. The mail is actually compose of a letter, a sort of a "book-catalogue" about the information of the death rate here in the Philipines, and a Business Reply Envelope. All materials are made up of cheap recycled paper... cheap.. yes it was all recycled.... but indeed it was full of meaning... full of love... full of care... full of art..

I never thought that I'll be moved.... I was not moved by the pictures... nor the statistics... nor the mother's and babies.... I was moved because I realized I'm very blessed to be where I am now. I am moved because I realize that while I eat my breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there are families begging for food. I realized that all my wants and material dreams are just luxuries... and not necessities.... I realized that there are alot of people in dire need of love, nourishment, and care... I realized that I have "more" than what I should have... I realized I have spare.....

Lastly I realized that the least thing that I can do is to share....

Roses For Rose - A Valentine Story

A very touching poem-story. It will make you realize that life is short and worth spending. I also realized that appreciating someone you love will make your relationship grow more. The poem made my heart burn. Deep inside me there is something that made me cry. Maybe because of how deep the poem showed love and affection. Maybe because the poem showed my inner self. Maybe the poem showed one facet of my life..... Or maybe just because I'm me...

Please have time to read the poem, it is worth reading, it will help you face life. Hope we understand the meaning of love.. It is best exemplified not only of material things, but of your pure and clear affection...

Happy Valentine's Day.....

Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition

"The Pinoy Big Brother fever is alive once again with the successful premiere of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition! Last night, thousands of people gathered in Baywalk, Manila to witness the grand presentation of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition's 14 housemates, who have started a new exciting adventure inside Big Brother’s house.

In a star-studded grand welcome party, the fans of the number one reality TV show finally got to meet the 14 housemates. And as early as now, it seems that the PBB diehards have already picked their personal favorites! Here are the 14 housemates who were formally introduced to the public during last night’s show."

courtesy of ABS-CBN Interactive

Of all the celebrity housemates, I like Keanna Reeves to emerge as the 1st Celebrity PBB grand winner. I don't know, but there is something in her that I really like. She's so transparent, kikay, and very hilarious. There is definitely a charm in her, that makes her "stay" in showbiz. I hope she wins...

My second choice is between Roxanne or Gretchen. Roxanne because I like her face (especially when she curls her hair), Gretchen because of her achievements as a black belter in karatedo.

4th choice will be Mr Rudy Fernandez (D' Athelete, not D' Actor hehehe) because of his determination and passion for sports :)...

Note:

What happened to Rustom? He looks like a different person.... hmmm...

Excellence
Main Entry: ex·cel·lence
Pronunciation: 'ek-s(&-)l&n(t)s
Function: noun
1 : the quality of being excellent
2 : an excellent or valuable quality : VIRTUE
3 : EXCELLENCY

Definition taken from Meriam-Webster Online
...........................................................

People are afraid to commit mistakes, afraid of letting the world know that they failed. Sometimes we keep it to ourselves and cry silently till our hearts burn. Sometimes we try to blame others just to cover up the pain that we feel. I guess that's not what God wants us to do.

I always believe that failures give us something to learn. Learning in the sense that we can overcome problems that made us stumble in the ground. It gives us the courage to stand again after a deep fall. It gives us a reason to laugh over our weaknesses, to smile over our mistakes, and to recognise every possibility to succeed.

"As long as I'm alive, I still have a chance!", I always tell that to myself. It's very hard to do, but I always try. I always tell my self that "Excellence does not require Perfection". Excellence requires conviction to what you believe in. Excellence requires courage to face every fear. Excellence requires passion in what you do. And Excellence requires deep faith in your self and most specially to God , almighty.

So Let's erase "perfection" in our lives... We can't achieve it, no matter what we do. Let's accept that we're human, born to make mistakes, just like what the song says. Let's try to tell our selves, "I did great, I did alot of mistakes, and I think I'm well fulfilled!".... ciao...

KUNG HEI FAT CHOI

Let's say goodbye to the chicken.... And let's welcome the DAWG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Below are few facts about the Dog and what to expect for this year... Enjoy

*pics from Disney*

Dog......

People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and they inspire other people's confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit.

In the West, the Dog is man's best friend, but in Chinese Astrology this Sign is a little more unpredictable than that. Dogs are loyal, faithful and honest and always stick to their firm codes of ethics. However, this Sign has trouble trusting others. It's generally quite trustworthy itself -- except for the occasional "little white lies" the Dog tells in order to make things go more smoothly. The Dog makes a wonderful, discreet and loyal friend (despite any white lies) and is an excellent listener. This Sign tends to root for the underdog and its keen sense of right and wrong makes it duty-bound to the core. The Dog's mantra seems to be, Live right, look out for the little people and fight injustice whenever possible.

Dogs can also be rather dogmatic, too. They don't go in for light social banter; instead, they go straight for home, expostulating on the topics that are most important to them. At these times the Dog's narrow-minded or stubborn side can become apparent; this Sign has trouble staying light and calm when an important issue is at stake. This Sign can also be very temperamental; mood swings characterize its emotional life and often the Dog needs to run off to be alone in order to recuperate. Part of the problem is the result of this Sign's load of irrational fears that turn into niggling anxieties that turn into hurt feelings and occasional grouchiness. This sensitive Sign needs to warm up to others over time and gradually learn to trust them. Without that trust as a foundation, Dogs can be judgmental and coarse.

The Dog's discerning nature does make it an excellent business person, one who can turn that picky, guarded nature into a keen sense of the truth of another's motives. Where love is concerned, Dogs often have a tough time finding the right match. They can be so anxious and overwrought in the romance dance that they'll stress their partner to the max! In any forum, this Sign is happiest when able to be quite physically active; at home or at work, the Dog will always be constructing something new or cleaning something up in order to make things better. Dogs need to work on controlling their irrational worries and would also be well-served to relax their mile-high standards, which can sometimes wind up alienating the ones they love.

Best Websites

Recently, Time Magazine released its pick for the 50 best websites. Time created a new ideal of criterion in choosing their best picks. This is a must see...
..................................................
Thoughts.....
As a developer, I always think that functionality is the best quality that a web or windows application should have. It should serve its intended purpose with ease and accuracy. Furthermore, a developer should also take note of the usability issues that might occur. Lastly, “user friendliness” must always be considered since we are not the only one to use the site or application… hahaha…

Bangkok's Royal Grand Palace

When King Rama I ascended the throne in 1782, he decided to move the capital city from the area on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, where the former Thonburi Palace was located, to the Eastern side of the river. The construction work lasted for three years. The Grand Palace was built then, with a temple or Royal Chapel located within the compound of the palace.

The architectural plan of the new Grand Palace is almost identical in every detail to that of the Royal Palace in the former capital of Ayutthaya. It was built close to the river facing north with the river on the left. This palace has an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1782. The length of the four walls is 1,900 metres. Within these walls are situated government offices and the Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha besides the royal residences.

Rama I moved the centre of administration to this side of the Chao Phraya and, after erecting public monuments such as fortifications and monasteries. The King ordered the palace to be built not only as his residence but also as his offices--the various ministries, only one of which remains in the palace walls. This palace came to be known as the Grand Palace, in which the earliest edifices contemporary with the foundation of Bangkok were the two groups of residences named the Dusit Maha Prasat and the Phra Maha Monthian.

The palace is divided into three sections:
- The Outer Palace (Phra Ratchathan Chan Nok) on the north
- The Middle Palace (Phra Ratchathan Chan Klang) at the east
- The Inner Palace (Phra Ratchathan Chan Nai) to the west

Six ways to improve your health in 2006

AN APPLE A DAY By Tyrone M. Reyes, M.D.
The Philippine STAR 01/03/2006

A new year and a new resolve to build a better life. The problem is the list we draw up to improve our lives is so darn long that we often end up doing nothing at all. Call it a to-do list. Call it a battle plan if it makes you feel better. One way or the other, you have to figure out where to start and what to do. Many New Year's resolutions are health-related: lose 10 lbs., stop excessive alcohol intake, join a health club, and others. Of course, these are all good ways to keep ourselves fit and healthy. But there are often less obvious ways to enhance your health in the New Year that will not only extend your life span but also improve your quality of life.

Here are my six choices for 2006.

1. Learn To Meditate

Over the past several decades, it has become increasingly clear that meditation is a path not only to spiritual enlightenment but also to better health. A slew of recent studies have shown that a regular practice can offset many of the effects of stress, including heart disease, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and infertility. In addition, it has been proven to boost the immune system and help treat symptoms and pain associated with chronic illness such as cancer, fibromyalgia, and psoriasis.

According to a survey on complementary and alternative medicine by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, eight percent of adult Americans now practice meditation. "It allows people to deal with a wide range of incoming hits to the brain and psyche in a more manageable way," says Barrie Cassileth, chief of the Integrative Medicine Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Meditation has no side effect and once learned, doesn't cost a centavo!

2. Use Your Gray Matter

We know today that adult brains can grow and change. This ability may help individuals push back against declines in perception, cognition, and motor skills, once thought to be an unavoidable part of growing older. It may play a role in recovery from stroke and traumatic brain injury. And it may even help delay the development of diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Best of all, the brain's restorative capabilities seem to be sparked not by high-priced pharmaceuticals but by everyday pleasures that present mental or physical challenges. These can include tackling crossword puzzles, analyzing the Da Vinci Code in your book group, or playing a tough 18 holes of golf. "Use it or lose it," says William Greenough, a researcher at the University of Illinois who cites billiards as a good example of the sort of motor-skills challenge that enhances brain function. "The brain needs both physical and mental exercise," he emphasizes.

Now you know why Efren "Bata" Reyes is ageless!

3. Have More Sex

Two economists, David Blanchflower of Darthmouth College and Andrew Oswald of Warwick University, set out to track down people's lifestyles and happiness in a series of research papers, and when it comes to the importance of sex, their conclusion couldn't be more plain: "The more sex," they write, "the happier the person." The real surprise here might not be how we enjoy sex, but why we need a couple of economists to tell us so. The pleasure we get from sexual contact is hardwired, like nature's incentive plan to keep us propagating the species. But there are more benefits to safe, consensual sex than just fulfilling an evolutionary requirement. As more and more researchers are finding out, it can be awfully good for physical and mental health as well.

Studies show that sex may reduce prostate and breast cancer risk, boost immunity, relieve stress, and burn 180 calories for a half hour, making it a pretty good workout. It shoots mood-boosting hormones through the system, builds intimacy between partners, and generally just feels pretty darn good.

But here's the caveat: Sex experts say that it's the quality, not just the quantity that counts. And may I add, keep it intramarital, will you?!

4. Exercise, A Little

The benefits that come from daily exercise read like a doctor's wish list: It reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, Type II diabetes, breast and colon cancer, osteoporosis, and overall mortality; lowers blood pressure and blood sugar levels; reduces body fat, builds lean muscle, and prevents weight gain; increases good HDL cholesterol and reduces harmful LDL; enhances self-esteem; alleviates depression and anxiety; and slows cognitive decline and disability among older adults.

But the fact is, a majority of people do not relish the wonders of exercise. So what's the very minimum amount of exercise that will keep the gym-averse healthy? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that adults accumulate a mere 30 minutes of exercise per day, on most or preferably all days. This is a level that can reduce cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other serious chronic illnesses.
So what are you waiting for?

5. Quit Smoking

Getting a group of doctors to agree on something is near impossible. But there is one point on which they are unanimous: If you're a smoker, you should quit. Tobacco is the leading preventable cause of mortality. Smoking also exacerbates other conditions, like diabetes and asthma. Of course, if you smoke, you probably know that. Just like you know that it causes lung and heart disease, stinks up your breath and clothes, and elicits dirty looks from strangers. You also probably want to quit – maybe you have tried, and failed, before.

Why not make this the year you succeed? While there is still no silver bullet that makes quitting a snap, researchers are learning more about how to improve your odds. Specialists suggest psychological counseling and pharmacological agents, such as nicotine patches and antidepressants. If you need more information, you may visit the following websites: www.smokefree.gov and www.stopsmoking.ucsf.edu.

With success, you'll be cheering more than good health. Says Anne Joseph of the University of Minnesota's Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center: "More than feeling good physically, people (who quit) are really happy and proud of themselves."

6. Forgive

Major world religions have long considered forgiveness as one of the most important human virtues. Jesus' radical forgiveness is the foundation of Christianity. Judaism's high holy days – Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur – are focused on atonement. Buddhism calls for ceaseless empathy and compassion toward all beings, especially one's enemies. In the Koran, the angel Gabriel tells Mohammed to set aside vengeful anger. And from the Bhagavad Gita, a classic Hindu text: "If you want to see the brave, look for those who can forgive. If you want to see the heroic, look for those who can love in return for hatred."

While theologians differ on what constitutes true forgiveness, academics in the still-new field of forgiveness studies have come to an uneasy definition: "It's something that happens inside the forgiver when he lets go of negative emotions," says Everett Worthington, a psychology professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. "It's not condoning, excusing, justifying, or reconciling," he says. And if peace of mind isn't enough, researchers have also found that forgiveness provides significant health benefits. Fred Luskin, director of the Stanford Forgiveness Project, says that nursing a grudge raises blood pressure, depletes immune function, makes you more easily depressed, and causes enormous stress to the entire body. Forgive. Do it for yourself. After all, forgiveness is looking at yourself and saying, "I don't want to go through life feeling hateful and revengeful, because that's not going to do me any good." That is the heart of forgiveness: choosing to live every new day in peace.

Typical Day

Typical day for a soft dev... think.. code... think... code... browse.. research... think... code... test.. code... research.. This is a never ending cyle. Although I like my work, sometimes it gives me the feeling of being bored. Nah, It's very typical, I'm not the only person in the world who gets bored! haha.

It is really hard for a person to find his/her total happiness. Maybe that's the reason why I always believe that there's no perfect "entity" in this world except God. There's always something changing. It's inevitable. Change is constant.

I remember the time when I graduated in my first course during college. I said to myself, that I'm going to work and be rich. So I got a job in one of the biggest semiconductor companies, if not in the world in the Philippines (Amkor of course!). I worked there as a Line Technician. The First few months, I enjoyed it. I had my first salary, I can already buy the things that I like from my own money, etc. The next few months, still ok, then after a year and 2 months I got BORED! I resigned and decided to take up another course.

Maybe It's not a bad idea. I think I made the best decision in my life just because I was bored. I decided to take up Computer Science and in that path I saw light!!!! hahahaha. I saw already my dream profession where I can excel (besides having 5 times bigger salary hehehe!!!!).

So always remember when you got bored of your usual thing, it means it's not meant for you!!! ciao... till next time...

Bora

Bora is an Island getaway! It is a place where you want to go after months of hard work. It is where you find relaxation and escape from the busy city life.... It is simply paradise!!

I hope it remains that way, since Bora, inch by inch, loses it's fine white sands. Because of tourism (ok fine not tourism!)... let me re-phrase... Because of our negligence the once sugary white sands of bora now turns to light gray.... so sad.... Let's protect our country's treasures... please............
